1. AECT 2017, Conference Proposal

Kopcha, T. J., Ocak. C. (Under Review). The Embodiment of complex thought processes through the shift from abstraction to automation within Robotics Education. AECT Convention 2017, Jacksonville, Florida.

Abstract

The proposal is a preliminary analysis of the ways thinking was embodied as young children move from abstraction to automation in robotics education.  Specifically, we analyze how children embody their learning as a designated robotics task became more challenging cognitively. The research questions aimed to investigate: (1) How learners reflect their abstract and automated thinking through their gesturing activity (2) How did learners gestures change over time as the robotics task becomes more challenging?

2. LDT Design Studio-EDIT 8190 Design Artifact, December 2016

MetaphorMe is the design artifact that I developed within the scope of LDT Design Studio- EDIT 6190. MetaphorMe is a social learning platform allows students to write their creative science scenarios and role-play those scenarios with the MetMe learning community. With its’ database, it has unique features for embodied cognition researchers to analyze students’ learning patterns based on students' gestures shown in role-play videos and word frequency count in metaphoric scenarios.

3. Foundations-EDIT 9990, December 2016

The proposal submitted within the scope of Foundations course represents the information about  LDT scholar that I resonate with in my research.

4. Concept Proposal, Topical Seminar Creativity, Technology, & How the Brain Learns-EDIT 9990, April 2017 ( Manuscript in Progress)

The proposal is a conceptual framework that I wrote in EDIT 9990 in order to discuss the neuroscience of playing chess and how it is different from playing against artificial intelligence in consideration of embodiment theory.

5. Achievement and Intelligence- EPSY 8190, April 2016 (In Progress)

The proposal is to conceptualize the need for moving to non-psychometric theories of intelligence and it has been written within the scope of EPSY 8190.

6. GA Assistantship- Dr.Kopcha

I prepared the codebook that indicates the first level coding of Robotics video within the scope of my assistantship.
