CEREN OCAK
First Year Review
I am Ceren Ocak, first-year doctoral student in the Learning, Design, and Technology program at the University of Georgia (UGA).

I earned my B.S in Elementary Science Education from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey. I received my M.S degree in Curriculum and Instruction after attending the department of Educational Sciences in METU.

During my M.S studies, I worked as an educational game developer in the Game based Teacher Education System (GATES) Project launched by Turkey’s Ministry of National Education (MoNE). Soon afterwards, I gained experience in my field by working as a curriculum developer at one of the leading private schools in Turkey. Currently, I work as a graduate assistant in the Robotics Project at Research for the Advancement of Innovative Learning (RAIL) Laboratory in the UGA.

My research interests are embodied cognition regarding mathematics and science learning. Particularly, I search for embodied clues of computational thinking process that goes from abstraction to automation process.
